Thomas K. Zoner – Township Supervisor
Thomas Zoner has had so many years of experience working with Commerce Township in so many different aspects, some might wonder if he ever has a free moment. In addition to serving on the Downtown Development Authority Board, Thomas has been the township supervisor for the past seven years. But it doesn’t end there.
Thomas has also served nine years as the township clerk. He spent 10 years working on the township Civil Service Commission; eight years on the Parks & Rec Committee; six years on the Planning Commission; nine years on the Museum Cultural Committee; four years on the Zoning Board of Appeals; and one year as a trustee.
Thomas is also a member of many professional organizations including: the Michigan Township Association; Oakland County Michigan Township Association; Oakland County Clerk’s Association; Michigan Association of Clerks; Federal Task Force Committee; the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments; and the Oakland County Supervisor’s Association.
Thomas earned degrees in journeyman, die sinker and tool and die from Schoolcraft College.
When Thomas can find extra time, he enjoys golfing and paragliding. Thomas and his wife, Mary Jean, also own and operate Zoners Greenhouse, a seasonal retail business. In addition, they have four children: Mike, 34; Jenny, 31; Tammy, 29; and Brian, 25.
